My path began at Walgreens corporate headquarters. You may know this company as Walgreens Boots Alliance. Here I began a career in locational analysis, scouting new locations for Walgreen drugstores. This job gave me insight into humanity and culture, neighborhoods, and diverse needs of people all over the United States. PowerPoint was my tool and every other week, I was researching locations, preparing presentations and presenting to the highest level of executives in the company.

After having my first child, travel became a hindrance. I was promoted into the role of Corporate Planning and assisted the Corporate Communications department with research, to support the company's mission that was detailed in the annual report and many speeches and press releases the executives and company delivered. I worked on special research projects; defined our competition and helped develop a database of store locations for our research team to make more accurate sales forecasts.

Then the late 1990's brought on the talk about buying goods and services online. Of course being the number one pharmacy in America, Walgreens needed to make a change. A Pharmacist, Marketing Manager and a research analyst was set to the task of finding out how this could be done. In 2000, Walgreens launched its first walgreens.com presence. With the help of yours truly.
I was mainly responsible for all the UX design cases for the entire website. I worked with developers, pharmacists, manufacturing partners, graphic designers to launch a completely integrated online drugstore. It was cutting edge. At that time no other pharmacy built their website to be as true to shopping in store. If you dropped off a prescription in the store, the same system was securely assist you online. An amazing feat for sure. |
